The EIC has a history 4 decades long. The development of the EIC meetings since their beginnings in London in the 1960’s can be thought of as a biography of the iron research field – which is to say we have been relaxed enough over the years to have permitted and enjoyed excellent input from wonderful non-European colleagues, as well as primarily delighting in our home-grown talent.
A detailed record of the EIC meetings would therefore be a valuable and exciting contribution to iron research – and this is precisely what Roberta Ward and Bob Crichton have been undertaking in their forthcoming book of the EIC.
The fascinating introduction of their work contains a potted history of the genesis of EIC and the initial foci of scientific interest: read it by clicking EIC Early Years. I hope you enjoy.
